Ostuni
Discovering the White City
A renowned tourist destination, Ostuni is also known as ‘The White City.’ This mediaeval town is a maze of narrow streets and limewashed houses. The iconic Piazza della Libertà boasts the striking Obelisk of Sant’Oronzo at the heart of the town.
Be sure not to miss the Palazzo di San Francesco, what was once an ancient monastery and is now Ostuni’s town hall. As you wander through the old town, you will come across the Diocesan Museum, the Gothic-style cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Arco Scoppa which was inspired by the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.
‘The White City’ of Ostuni is a vibrant centre of art and culture. It is best visited by foot, allowing you to wander through the white maze of its historic centre.
